PROJECT SCOPE

This project focuses on creating a visual and typographic system for signage, printed and digital deliverables needed for a presentation at the Museum Pillar Defilló in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico by the group Mayawest Dance Company.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The design for this project was mainly inspired by the style of dance of the local group: Mayawest Dance Company. The company is focused on dance experimention and raw artistic presence. As such, the main design elements become graphical components that swirl across the page, much like the dancers do. The black typography over white and cream highlight the contrast that can be seen in the company’s photographic style. The header typeface, Gallery Modern, was also carefully chosen to mimic the movement of a dancer.
